Four U of T Mathematicians Invited to Speak at 2026 International Congress of Mathematicians

The Department of Mathematics is pleased to announce that Robert Haslhofer, Alexander Kupers, Jeremy Quastel, and Jacob Tsimerman have been invited to speak at the 2026 International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM). Professors Quastel and Tsimerman have been invited to deliver plenary lectures.

Joel Kamnitzer has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada

Joel Kamnitzer has explored geometric objects related to Lie groups, inspired by ideas from theoretical physics. Using these geometric objects, Kamnitzer uncovered deeper structures in the representation theory of Lie groups: especially canonical bases and categorification.
