Awards and Scholarships are a valuable resource for any researcher. 

Graduate Student Awards

The objective of the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s (CGS M) Program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies.

Applicants must complete and submit an online application using the Research Portal. Students should refer to the CGS M application instructions (for all applicants) housed on NSERC’s website to locate details on how to complete their application. Departmental Deadline for NSERC CGS M: December 1.

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program encourages excellence in graduate studies at publicly-assisted universities in Ontario. Since 1975, the OGS program has been providing merit-based scholarships to Ontario’s best graduate students in all disciplines of academic study. The scholarship program at U of T is jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto. The Province allocates OGS awards to universities specifying the number of awards that each may offer to their students annually.

The Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII‐GSST) program is designed to encourage excellence in graduate studies in science and technology. Please get in touch with our graduate administrator at jmerisca@math.utoronto.ca for application procedure and deadlines.
 
Applicants must submit an OGS application to their proposed graduate unit and select “Yes” that they would like to be considered for other graduate award competitions in the “Governmental Award Applications in Progress” section of the Awards and Financial Aid step of the application.

Doctoral Awards 

We strongly encourage students to apply for the awards listed below. For more information on scholarships and additional award offerings, please visit the School of Graduate Studies website

The aim of the Doctoral Completion Award (DCA) is to support full-time PhD students who are beyond the funded cohort but within the time limit for the degree. The DCA value is determined by the graduate unit, and it may not be the same for every award holder. Please visit the School of Graduate Studies website for more information.

Applicants must be nominated by the institution at which they wish to study and hold the award. Applicants seeking institutional nomination must first receive the endorsement of their proposed graduate unit through a local selection process. Applicants seeking this endorsement must submit a completed Vanier CGS application using the ResearchNet application system.
