Four U of T Mathematicians Invited to Speak at 2026 International Congress of Mathematicians

August 5, 2025 by Wajiha Rasul

The Department of Mathematics is pleased to announce that Robert Haslhofer, Alexander Kupers, Jeremy Quastel, and Jacob Tsimerman have been invited to speak at the 2026 International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM). Professors Quastel and Tsimerman have been invited to deliver plenary lectures.

The ICM is the most prestigious international conference in mathematics and is held every four years. An invitation to speak at the ICM constitutes significant recognition of the international impact and depth of a researcher’s work. First held in 1897, the ICM gained prominence after its 1900 meeting in Paris, where David Hilbert famously presented his list of 23 problems. Today, the Congress continues to serve as the preeminent global forum for highlighting major developments in mathematics.

The department congratulates Professors Haslhofer, Kupers, Quastel, and Tsimerman on this outstanding achievement.

More information about the 2026 ICM can be found on the official conference website.
