Summer Camps

The Math Outreach office is excited to offer in-person and online Summer camps this year! This summer we will be offering 3 terms of programming, with both in-person and online formats. Please see below for program schedules. Registrations for Summer Terms 1 and 2 will open on May 8, and Term 3 registrations will open in mid-June, with the exact dates coming soon.

Term 1 - Summer Math Camp (July 7 - 11 2025, In-Person) - Registrations Open on May 8

We offer free before-care from 8-9AM (every day except Monday), and after-care from 4-6PM (every day). You do not need to sign up for this.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (ET - Toronto Time)

Course Description: In this camp, students will explore how math has shaped our world across centuries, from decoding hieroglyphs in Ancient Egypt to solving astronaut challenges during the Space Race. Students will approach fundamental math concepts through a balance of hands-on activities, games, and crafts, and pencil-and-paper math. Along the way, they’ll practice data collection and interpretation, addition and subtraction, skip counting, measurement and more through era-themed activities and projects.

Fee: $425

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (ET - Toronto Time)

Course Description: Step into the world of architecture and discover how math shapes the buildings and spaces all around us! In this camp, students will expand their understanding of math concepts through real world connections of architecture around the world and by designing, measuring, and building their own creative structures. Through hands-on activities, students will see how geometry, measurement, spatial sense, and patterning are used by architects and engineers every day. This camp will encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, helping students see math through the eyes of an architect.

Fee: $425

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (ET - Toronto Time)

Course Description: Music is everywhere - so is math! From the songs on the radio to the beat of your footsteps. In this camp, students will explore music through a mathematical lens. Students will explore harmonies, rhythms, scales, and more. We will cover topics related to algebra, fractions, patterning, and geometry. Students will also get the opportunity to make their own DIY instruments using household supplies! [No musical experience required)].

Fee: $425

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (ET - Toronto Time)

Course Description: Welcome to Math Lab where science and math come to life through hands-on experiments and exciting challenges! In this course, students will step into the role of scientists and engineers, taking part in exciting demonstrations, conducting their own experiments, and building creative structures that demonstrate scientific principles. Along the way, students will learn how math plays a vital role in chemistry, physics, engineering, and biology through observation, data collection, and data analysis.

Fee: $425

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (ET - Toronto Time)

Course Description: Math in space is more than just rocket science (literally and figuratively)! Math is the foundation of much of our understanding of stars, planets and everything in between. In this camp, you will encounter the mathematical principles that make the cosmos tick and how math helps us make sense of our observations of it. Now is the time to shoot for the stars – and do some exciting math while we’re at it!

[This course is different from the Grade 5/6 Math in Outer Space course offered in Fall 2024]

Fee: $425

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (ET - Toronto Time)

Course Description: TBA

Fee: $450 + tax

Term 2: Online Summer Math Camp (July 21 – 25 2025, Online) - Registrations Open on May 8

Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM and 12:15pm - 1:45pm (ET - Local Toronto Time)

Course Description: In this camp, we will delve into how mathematics can help us understand the natural world and its inhabitants. We will explore fascinating examples, such as the Fibonacci sequence in pinecone spirals and the hexagonal patterns in honeycombs, to uncover the mathematical principles that surround us. Throughout the week, we will cover key concepts including fractions, algebra, geometry, probability, and other mathematical phenomena found in nature. We will also dive into multiplication and division, decimals and fractions, data management, and advanced geometry.

Fee: $265

Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM and 12:15pm - 1:45pm (ET - Local Toronto Time)

Course Description: Step into the shoes of game developers! In this camp, you will learn about the key elements of popular video games, what makes a game great, and how to implement these features in Scratch. Through the process of game development, students will create their own unique games in Scratch while learning core coding concepts along the way!

Fee: $265

Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM and 12:15pm - 1:45pm (ET - Local Toronto Time)

Course Description: In this camp, students will be introduced to geometry as once formulated by the famous mathematician, Euclid. We shall survey his axioms, postulates, and theorems, and shall learn how to write proofs. Throughout the week, we shall learn how to develop geometric intuition for lines, angles, and triangles.

Fee: $265

Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM and 12:15pm - 1:45pm (ET - Local Toronto Time)

Course Description: Numbers and math are all around us waiting to be discovered. In this camp, students will discover the different types of math codes including binary, morse, cryptography, a bit of Scratch programming, and even braille. We will cover topics related to number theory, algebra, patterning and trigonometry.

Fee: $265

Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM and 12:15pm - 1:45pm (ET - Local Toronto Time)

Course Description: In this camp, students will explore paradoxes, infinite sets, and fractals. Students will investigate Hilbert’s Hotel, Cantor’s diagonal argument, and the visual beauty of chaos through fractals. They will also explore the vastness and differing sizes of infinities. By connecting logic and patterns, they’ll gain insight into the surprising structure of advanced mathematical ideas.
